July 2008

This post doesn’t have to do with eating. rather, it has to do with possibly throwing up.  During what should have been a casual visit to Wal-Mart, my mommy was word raped. My sister, Heidi, was in dire need of some more pee pads (she can’t control her bladder like I can), so mommy went to get some.  In the pet aisle, there was a scary redneck guy who was just staring at her.  She avoided making eye contact, but then the creepy guy says to her, “I like your pretty outfit, honey.”  Then later, he says, “Are you married?”  After saying no and scrambling off to another area, he keeps on walking with her and asks for her number.  Of course she says no and that she has a boyfriend, but this does not shut the guy up. Oh no.  He then proceeds to say that he had to try, and that it was too bad because he wanted to take her home and make love to her all day long…starting from the soles of her feet all the way up.  He said he would massage her feet, even if they were sweaty.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

First of all, mommy does not have sweaty feet.

Second of all, who does this?! Who would say such terrible things?!

Boys, please do not ever use these lines.

Sometimes my  mommy and her friends like to celebrate what they call “Smoothie Skate ‘08.”  This is when they pick up a smoothie from Smoothie King, congregate in my cul-de-sac, skate on their rad skateboards (Spongebob is the character of choice), and just hang out.  Now, what happens when it becomes 2009?  I’m not sure.  Smoothie Skate ‘09  just doesn’t sound right.  Here are some suggestions I have for them: Dance in a line in ‘09, Drink some Brine ‘09, Dig in a Mine ‘09, Swinging on a Vine in ‘09, Ride a Swine ‘09, and Eat some Twine ‘09.

Anyways, I tell you all this because I love fruit, so you know I enjoy a yummy smoothie.  My sister Heidi also enjoys a smoothie.  Just the other day, Heidi and I were napping…

When we heard my mommy come through the door and saw that she had a fruitiliscious treat!

Note that the cup says that Chewing is Over-rated.

Heidi disagrees.

I have been lucky enough to travel the world over in search of the perfect thirst quencher.  Today, I would like to share with you all two of my recent finds.  The double chocolate chip frappaccino from Starbucks had a nice layer of condensation on the outside of the cup.  As I am allergic to chocolate, I was not allowed to have any of the actual drink.  My parents, however, enjoyed it immensely and give it two enthusiastic thumbs up.

My other find is the strawberry slush from Sonic.  I did get to enjoy some of the slush, and it was completely delish!  Strawberries are  one of my favorite fruits.  I also enjoy apples, oranges, grapefruits, and peaches.  I do not like bananas, though, and will only eat those as a last resort.  I’m just like my mommy – she hates bananas and says they have a terrible texture.  Oddly enough, she does like bananas in her smoothies.

I was also able to enjoy some hot, crunchy-on-the-outside, mushy-on-the-inside tots.  Give me some tots, Napoleon.  Daddy doesn’t share very well, but I managed to get a taste anyhow.  Nobody can resist my big, soulful brown eyes.

That’s all for now.  I’ll leave you with a cute photo of me. Ciao, bella!

I LOVE to eat! and I shall hopefully have more news for you soon. But for now, it’s late and I just wanted to introduce myself to the liketoeat blog.

My name is Chloe, often referred to as ChloeBelle or ChloeBat. My parents are Jerin and they love me so much! I have two wonderful God-parents – Laura and Cody, and I also recently acquired a sister named Heidi. I enjoy a lot of fine dining, and will be keeping you up-to-date on all the yummy cuisine I get to nibble on.

Tonight, a bunch of us got together for some rockin’ out at the S3 office. A bunch of people have recently aquired instruments (Panda bought a guitar a few months back, Andy got one a few weeks ago, Laura and Erin bought one last weekend, and Tran also picked up a keyboard last weekend) so we decided we’d try to organize a bit of a jam session and see how everyone was progressing.

Here’s a shot of part of the acoustic lineup (take note of my recently aquired banjo on the left. I’m terrible at it so far, but it’s a lot of fun).

Laura, myself, and Erin pretending to know what we’re doing.

Panda thinking about how awesome our acoustic Blink-182 cover sounded

Following our acoustic warm up, we decided we’d head over to Taxco to grab some Mexican’s food for a nice dinner.

Here’s Tran trying to ignore the fact that Erin and Andy have been discussing Jenkem during the entire meal.

Said Jenkem conversation continuing…

Panda and Wooley joined the fun

Tran tried to feed Laura meat but she declined.

After our tasty dinner, we moved our instruments into the beach room back at the S3 office and attempted to rock out even more. We quickly realized that none of us really knew how to play anything together, but we still looked pretty cool. Here are a few pics.

After an hour or so of making strange noises, we went back to unplugged mode and I tried to play around on the banjo a bit more.

Overall, a fun evening of tasty food and music. Our band might need a bit more practice before we’re rocking out to huge crowds, but I think we’re off to a promising start. More pics are up here so feel free to check those out as well.

Today, I decided to be fairly brave for myself and try the Indian buffet by Laura’s work for lunch. As everyone knows, I’m extremly picky and fairly terrible overall at trying new foods, but agreed to this some time ago as she’s always stuck eating stuff that’s probably pretty crappy if you’re a proper vegiterian (bad fast food salads, tons of pizza, etc).

Upon arriving, Laura noticed that I looked a bit frightened, but it wasn’t without reason. Accoridng to the official food advisory chart for myself (see below), most ethnic foods put me at an elevated alert level as they’re usually new, smell a bit different, and generally look strange to me. This doesn’t totally mean I won’t try anything (as most ethnic dishes usually involve some type of chicken, rice, or bread), but I automatically get a bit cautioned.

Here’s my chart for future reference:

Upon the first trip to the buffet, I was a bit scared. None of the plain-looking chicken items were available, and instead, it was a number of things covered in orange-ish sauces and other food I didn’t recognize. I did however find two types of rices, both of which I tried and enjoyed.

Here’s Laura loading up on strange food.

Laura suggested that I try some type of strange item that involved an outer breading and an unknown filling, but I never did quite brave it. It sparked a discussion of how I tend to stay clear of most foods that involve something stuffed into something else, but then we realized that I often enjoy calzones and pop tarts. Oh well, my decision still sorta made sense in my head (think I just get scared of stuffed foods that I’ve never seen before and have no clue as to what’s inside them, which can probably be attributed to the time I tried some innocent looking asian bread that was actually filled with this gross red bean stuff).

Here’s a shot of my overly filled first plate:

And then Laura’s more traditional Indian meal:

The undisputed hit of the day for me ended up being some type of Indian pita bread that they kept bringing out to us. I forget it’s technical name, but it was extremely delicious and I ate a lot of it.

Overall, it was a fun new experience that wasn’t too frightening, and I thank Laura for talking me into trying something a bit different.
